How we can help Katrina victims?

Reverend Ronald Rolheiser, in his "Spirituality of Ministry" series in the Fall 2005 issue of Church magazine, gives us five movements toward the kind of ongoing conversion needed to do ministry in Jesus' name.

1. Move from self-concern to being "food for the life of the world"

2. Move from needing to be right to being concerned with building commuity

3. Move from the pursuit of career and comfort to solidarity with the poor

4. Move from the tyranny of orthodoxy, program, and cause to the compassion and prudence of Christ

5. Move from compensation to affective prayer (are you able to hear God say to you, 'I love you!' in your prayer)

Question for reflection and response:
How do we help the victims of the hurricane know the loving presence of God in the midst of their suffering? ….........

The parishes of our diocese will be taking up a special collection (to benefit Catholic Charities USA) for Hurricane Relief during the month of September.

Here is a link which includes Catholic Charities USA that is helpful for you to respond to the needs of those who are suffering from the Katrina hurricane:
